Manchester Urban Traffic Control Centre - Intech Furniture

Intech were awarded the contract for the purpose built control facility for the greater manchester urban traffic control (gmutc). the gmutc provide a professional high quality traffic signal control service to the ten greater manchester district authorities. gmutc’s role is to provide specialist advice on the design, installation, research and development, operation and control maintenance of the traffic signal network within greater manchester.

Intech’s total solution was to internally fit-out the new gmutc in the piccadilly place location. in our package the works carried out consisted of custom made control room furniture, builders works, flooring, suspended ceiling, electrical installation, custom made lighting feature and plumbing and associated works within the kitchen and wc areas.

The control room has a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere for their operators and is a good example of what can be achieved with the correct colour scheme and decorative additions to soften the overall feel. uniquely, intech installed a smart glass facility dividing the control room and the rear meeting room. in an emergency, the glass can be switched from an opaque appearance to transparent at the touch of button, allowing the meeting to be used for viewing purposes.
